I was raised up to know the difference between right and wrong, and that there were consequences when I chose to do wrong. I believe that most parents teach their children right from wrong. It is important to do so because choosing wrong could get them in trouble, hurt, or even be deadly. As a follower of Christ, choosing right or wrong is even more important because it can impact our spiritual walk with Christ. Unfortunately, these days we have another choice, “almost”  right. There is so much deceitfulness in the world today, it is now not just a matter of knowing right from wrong, we need to be able to recognize right from “almost”  right. The enemy knows how to mix just enough truth in with false teachings in an attempt to mislead and confuse the people of God. Think about this; cyanide is a white crystalline material that looks like table salt or coarse sugar. If you mix one-part cyanide to nine-part regular sugar, the experts say one or two spoons full will contain enough to poison and kill the user. (https://www.chemsee.com/foodpoison)

This is exactly how “almost”  right works. It is just enough to poison and deter or kill your spiritual walk. At the least it will dim your light that Jesus said to let shine!

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6)

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20)

“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” (revelations 3:15-16)

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”. (Matthew 5;16)

For those who may say I have Salvation and I am God’s Chosen, so I cannot be deceived. You are absolutely correct about Salvation and being God’s Chosen, but if you think that Christians cannot be deceived, the deception has already begun. History shows us that Christians have been, and are, capable of being deceived. From the beginning, satan has been deceiving God’s people. (Genesis 3:13). John’s vision of the millennium ends with a worldwide rampage of deception on satan’s part. (Revelations 20:8). Even today we see how “ministries” that have proved to be different in reality from what they professed to be are accepted and followed. Sadly, entertainment, signs and wonders, and feel-good messages are more easily accepted than the Word of God. Because of worldly temptations one can easily be enticed to live by the “if this is wrong, I don’t want to be right” or the “your truth, my truth” mentality, instead of God’s Truth which is the only truth. The enemy’s hope is to deceive even those chosen by God who believe that Jesus is the Christ. Remember he tried to tempt Jesus. The good news is that in Matthew 24:24, Jesus also says, “if possible,” and scripture also tells us that no weapon formed against us will prosper. (Isaiah 54:17) This leads me to believe that the true elect cannot possibly be lost by God, however it is possible for the true elect to lose sight of God. That is the plan of the enemy. Which is why Jesus warns us to be alert and sober minded. He is talking to Believers, not unbelievers who the enemy already has.We do not want to be distracted for even a moment less we be deceived! The enemy is subtle. He doesn’t just push you in, he draws you in little by little with his “almost” right trickery.

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect”. (Matthew 24:24)

“So any person who knows what is right to do but does not do it, to him it is sin”. (James 4:17)

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

When we choose to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our Salvation is set in stone. What we must understand is that once we are saved, works follow salvation, as we are witnesses to what has happened to us and begin to walk in Christ. As someone put it, “we are not saved (by) good works, but we are saved (for) good works.” And if we choose wrong or “almost”  right there will be consequences. The way we choose to live will affect our Heavenly rewards and our lives here on earth. The Bible teaches that God rewards Believers for their obedience and faith and that these rewards are given after death. Also the way we choose to live can affect our rewards here such as peacefulness, love, wisdom, and healing. Making the wrong choices in life may cause us to miss the opportunities to witness how amazing our God is!

“For we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of man.”
(2 Corinthians 8:21)

“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.” (Proverbs 22:1)

“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.” (Proverbs 10:9)

“Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!” (Psalm 119:1)

“Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, In the same way, people who hurt the prophets who lived long ago.” (Matthew 5:12)NIRV

How do we make the right choices? We rely on the Holy Spirit to be our voice of conscience, the voice of reason, wisdom, good sense, and good judgment. We pray for discernment and we make it a habit of listening to and obeying the Holy Spirit, who protects us against the schemes of the evil one.

Jesus says, “But the Holy Spirit is the one who will help you. My Father will send him in my name. He will teach you everything that I have said to you. His Helper will remind you of all that I said.” (John 14:26)

As Christians, we should seek to do what is right and acceptable before God and our brothers and sisters. We have to decide whether we will lie or tell the truth, do the job right or fake it through, take the easy road or the right road, etc. Life is filled with temptations, obstacles, frustrations, inner struggles and dilemmas that we all have to cope with, things that the enemy will use to trick us. Our values, our thoughts, our words, and our actions is what others see and think about us. But it is much more than what others think of us, it is about our character, which should reflect the character of Jesus. Our character is who we really are, even when no one is watching. God cares more about our character than religious performances. To be a witness for Christ, we have to walk a separate road rather than the popular road. The popular road belongs to the world. We can’t have both, Our character is influenced and developed by our choices. The apostle John writes in 1 John 2:6: “he who says he abides in Christ ought to walk in the same way as he walked.” In other words, if we claim to be Christian, we must strive to be Christlike. God’s purpose is to make us like Christ. God’s way to make us like Christ is to fill us with His Spirit. When we surrender our life to God, we gradually conform to what God has revealed to us about His nature and will.

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:8-10)

“I, therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:1-3)

“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” (1 John 1:4-7)

To be a Christian means to follow Christ and to live a life that is pleasing to God. It is a process. It takes prayer. It takes connecting with the Holy Spirit living inside of us, and it takes the study and knowledge of God’s Word. And if you are ever confused about what you should or should not do, I quote Brian Troxel who wrote, “Love is the only motive that will cause us to walk worthy by His call.” Brothers and Sisters, we need the Holy Spirit, especially in these trying times to not be deceived and to make the right choices. Trusting God | 1 Samuel 1 – Hannah 

In order for me to remember important things I write them down, it is a “must’ in this season of my life. However long before it was a “must’, I wrote things down and planned everything. The experts say that this is good because when we write it down it becomes real, something we can see and therefore turn into reality. However, I used to do it because I thought it helped me to stay in control, I would write out my plan and when my plan did not work out, I always had a plan B, which did not work most times. It took me some time to realize I’m only in control when I surrender control to God, and if my plans are not aligned with God’s plans for my life, it’s not going to work. I also have learned that God does not need a plan B!

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21)

“The LORD of hosts has sworn: “As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand, “(Isaiah 14:24)

“Submit to God, and you will have peace; then things will go well for you. Listen to his instructions, and store them in your heart.” (Job 22:21-22)

When we follow God’s plan we do not need a plan B. There is nothing wrong with planning, but unless our plans align with God’s plan, it’s possible we will need a plan B and sometimes a plan C and D. In fact, unless we totally submit to God and His will for our life, we could go through the whole alphabet and still not get it right! Our human wisdom and abilities are limited, and we cannot always be in control of things. But if we know God, we know He is unlimited and is always in control. There was a time when giving total control of my life to anyone, even God was scary. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has or still feel this way. But I assure you that when we surrender fully to the will of God and allow Him to give us direction and guidance, there is no fear and we will not need a plan B!

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” (Proverbs 16:3)

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” (Psalm 32:8) NIV

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

God’s plan for our lives are joy, peace, prosperity, hope, and a future with Him for eternity. Our plans are usually self-satisfying, temporary, and often separates us from God. We tend to get upset when things do not go as we planned. And even when we are following God’s plan, there will be some obstacles on our journey. We may find suffering, hurt, pain, and rejection. This is the enemy working to get us distracted. He wants us to give up because even he knows what God has for us is good. This is no time to get upset and start thinking of a plan B. This is the time for prayer, trust, and faith! God will guide us and bring us through. As a matter of fact, we will come out better and stronger if we endure. God’s plan for us is not only eternal, but full of hope even in the mist of life’s storms. God is always in control no matter what it looks like and He promised us that it will all work out for our good. God’s purpose will prevail, He doesn’t need a plan B!

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

“There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD.” (Proverbs 21:30)

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

If you are contemplating whether to go with your plan or God’s plan, I urge you to go with God’s plan, it is always much better than anything we can think or imagine! It is not about carrying out our will on earth but fulfilling God’s will for our life on earth. Love and Blessings…

These last weeks have been challenging. There has been tears, frustration, and at times anxiety. However there also have been prayers, praise, and worship. The Bible doesn’t say that we will not experience any challenges or not be faced with any attacks. But it does promise that we can be confident in the certainty that they shall not prosper against us. No matter how challenging it has been, the one thing that’s been consistent is my faith. And as always God showed up in His time and in His way. God has promised me several things that have not come to pass yet, however I will continue to wait faithfully, and I will continue to praise Him while I wait. I will never doubt the promises of God!

“The Lord always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does” (Psalm 145:13)

“But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” (2 Peter 3:8)

“Wait on the LORD: Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: Wait, I say, on the LORD” (Psalm 27:14)

God has always been faithful in fulfilling His promises. In the Old Testament God gives us a preview of the messiah. (Genesis 49:1, Isaiah 7:14)) In the New Testament, all the promises are fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth. Scriptures show us where God has proved Himself over and over again to be true to His Word. God does not do time or age. And when God shows up it is well worth the wait. Our faith produces hope. Our hope should be in the Lord and His promises. No matter what we can stand on His promises. Through the trials and tribulations, we can stand on His promises. This is how we make it through the rough times. Remember God made us a promise that all things will work together for the good of those who love Him, those who are called according to His purpose. Problems can last a long time but they can’t last forever, the promises of God are forever.

“Praise be to the Lord, not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses” (1 Kings 8:56)

“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

“Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.” (1 Kings 8:56)

In this world we never know what problems we may face from day to day. However, God’s promises give us hope. God’s promises encourage us. God’s promises assure us that every problem will sooner or later turn out well for those who are committed to Jesus Christ. God said “all” things will work out for our good, not some things. That includes every tragedy, every trial, every heartache, every burden, and every diagnosis. Even death becomes a blessing for a child of God because Jesus defeated death!

“For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call. (Acts 2:39)

“Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations, He will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth.” (Isaiah 42:1,4)

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

The promises of Jesus are available for all God’s children. He has made promises to all those who accept Him as their Lord and Savior. We are promised forgiveness of sins. (1 John 1:9) Those who show confidence in Christ are assured of answers to prayers when we pray in accordance with His will. (1 John 5:14) Jesus promised to never leave or forsake us. (Deuteronomy 31:6) He promised to take care of all our needs. (Philippians 4:19) He said He is our help in times of troubles. (Psalm 9:9-1) He also promised to work everything out for our good. (Romans 8:28) I could go on and on because there are numerous promises made from God to man in the Bible. The greatest promise to believers in Christ is the promise of Salvation. Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection, God’s divine plan to rescue us and to give us the greatest promise of all, eternal life! If we allow God to work in our lives, trusting and depending on Him, we can faithfully stand on His promises. Love and Blessings…

“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1:13-14)

“That whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:15)

Willpower is a strong determination to do something or not to do something. We often hear the mantra “You can do anything you set your mind to.” and it seems we can, until we can’t. Willpower is not enough! Even the strongest willpower is not enough without the power of God. The truth is, even though we may have a strong willpower, we still need the Holy Spirit who has the real power to change us from within, His power will then flow through us giving us the power to change, conquer, and achieve our goals and desires when they are aligned with His will and purpose for our life.

“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:25-26)

Apostle Paul said it best in Romans chapter 7, verses 15-19, “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do. For I do not do the good I want to do. Instead, I keep on doing the evil I do not want to do.” What Paul was saying is that as strong as our desire or our willpower may be, it is not enough to overcome all temptation or keep our lives honoring to the Lord. God offers us something stronger than willpower; He offers “Spirit Power.” No matter how strong our willpower may be, it is useless without the power of the Spirit.

Before we surrendered to Christ, our passions, habits, opinions, impulses, and lusts are fed by our flesh which feeds our will. But when we submit to Jesus, we switch from willpower to leaning on the power of the Spirit who lives within us. The Holy Spirit replaces self. It is His power that changes us from within. It is His power that enables us to do what is pleasing to God. Our will on its own lacks the ability to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

“Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” (Romans 8:8)

We cannot, by sheer force of will, love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength as scripture tells us in Mark 12:30. Willpower cannot change our desires. But the Spirit-empowered person has a change of heart. Once in residence in our hearts, the Holy Spirit begins fueling our will with His thoughts, perspective, wisdom, and love. Our lives begin to move in His direction, led by our Spirit-fueled will. The more we surrender to Him, the more power we have to follow the Lord’s leading.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

“for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” (Phillipians 2:13)

God knows our willpower is not enough to keep us on the right path. None of us, strong or weak willpower can live the way God wants us to live by willpower alone. So God sacrificed His son Jesus to die for us that we may live our life through Him, the Holy Spirit.

“Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.” (Matthew 22:29)

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” (Romans 3:10)

“Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty” (Zechariah 4:6)

“Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.” (Job 26:14)

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” (Ephesians 3:20)

We do not have to stress ourselves trying to change in our own selves, we need help and it starts from within. The Holy Spirit works from the inside out. The real power is God that flows through us in the Holy Spirit who lives within us. Love and Blessings…

A sitcom around the mid 50’s to 1960; featured a family where the dad was the ultimate authority figure. His persona depicted an appropriate title for the series; Father Knows Best. Those in the household of faith realize our heavenly FATHER governs our lives according to His plan. Romans 8:28 confirms, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love GOD, to them who are called according to His purpose”.  Granted, all things are not “good”.  Yet, the magnificent LORD is working it out for the good of those who love Him”. The FATHER knows best.

Naturally, our finite conceptions can’t comprehend GOD’s infinite wisdom; still, we must never forget The FATHER knows best. It’s through trials we gain tolerance, suffering we are to seek solace, and with persecution we can pursue peace. Along with a daily devotional regime, there are 3 primary tenets that can assist us in getting closer to GOD. They are: Trust, Time and Temperance.  JESUS trusted GOD when He was agonizing over the crucifixion. (Luke 22:42); “Saying, FATHER if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done”. JESUS trusted GOD despite His afflictions. Develop the tenacity to accept what you are waiting to be changed. Roman 5:3-5 advises to glory in tribulations. Hardships can yield outcomes of patience, experience and hope, how virtuous. Many people sport frayed banners of betrayal. Loss of trust can foster vulnerability or rigidity. This adversely affects our ability to function. Trust issues can be profound based upon the perils of the past and dismal prospects of the future. Too much energy is expended and exhausted on trying to discern who is trustworthy. The FATHER knows best; simply ask Him. The FATHER knows what things ye have need of before ye ask Him”. Relinquish your hurts, fears and inhibitions to GOD. You can trust the LORD to always love and direct you. Recall when David was being relentlessly pursued by jealous Saul?  GOD continually protected David. (1 Samuel 18-24). If GOD is for you, who can be against you? The FATHER knows best.

Spending time with GOD cultivates the relationship. As we learn more about Him; we understand GOD knows all about us, (Luke 12:7).  Time involves; studying the Bible, praying and engaging in spiritual activities. Temperance requires discipline, which can be acquired through fasting and practicing obedience. The LORD expects Christians to exercise temperance according to His commandments and teachings. The flesh is weak, while the Spirit is willing, (Matthew 26:41). Don’t make excuses; focus on becoming a GODly example. The devil vies to mar and destroy individuals, marriages and families. He strives to distract us from following JESUS. Many of Satan’s tactics are surrounded by manipulation, money, deceit, confusion and temptation. If you err, quickly repent. It’s paramount to forgive others if we want GOD to forgive us. Remember vengeance belongs to God. The FATHER knows best. The LORD is always in our presence, so stay spiritually connected.

Dads and father figures should love, provide, instruct and protect. Our GOD does this immeasurably. Matthew 7:11 tells “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? “No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly, (Psalm 84:11). Why worry? The FATHER knows best.

Regardless of what you have endured or may be facing; GOD’s sustaining Word says; “The LORD will perfect that which concerns me” (Psalm 138:8).  HE is aware of our troubles, pain and despair. GOD will never leave or forsake us. His power heals and restores. Whether you’re reaping rewards, repercussions or regrets; realize the best is yet to come; “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which GOD hath prepared for them that love him”, (1 Corinthians 2:9). Wipe the tears and prepare to fulfill your divine purpose. It’s time to release doubt, dismay, anxiety, and be content. Know Beloved; inherently you are GOD’s child, and The FATHER knows best!

Sometimes when life’s storms happen it can throw us off balance. This is for the person who is feeling discouraged today. For the person who is feeling like everything is going wrong and your life is a total mess. It could be an unexpected diagnosis, a family issue, or financial problems. It could be you are just at a crossroads and don’t know which way to go. Whatever it is, I don’t know of a single person that planned for their life to get turned upside down. Unfortunately, it happens and it will continue to happen as long as we are in this world. If you think because you are a Christian that life will show you some mercy, think again! Life will come at you harder because the enemy is mad! However even though we live in this world, scripture tells us that we are not of the world. God wants us to live our life on this earth without being under the control of the world and satan’s system. The Bible tells us that none of us are immune to life’s troubles and sufferings. The good news is Jesus Christ tells us that we can be at peace during these times because He has overcome the world!

“I do not ask that You would take them out of the world, but that You would keep them out of the hands of the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. As You have sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.” (John 17:15-18)

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

I have heard people say the devil is busy. He may be but God is busier and He is constantly working life out for our good. God is always working to make our pain worthwhile, even if we can’t see it.

“Clearly, you are a God who works behind the scenes, God of Israel, Savior God.” (Isaiah 45:15-25)

“But Jesus replied, ‘My Father is always working, and so am I.” (John 5:17)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Our own planning and good intentions can’t deliver us from the storms of life. We need the power of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit who lives within us. We can’t save ourselves. We need to be saved. A drowning man can’t save himself, but he can be saved by simply letting someone save him. If he struggles, still trying to save himself, he will actually hinder the person saving him. We need to realize that if we allow Him, Lord Jesus will save us from the storms of life.

“And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” (Luke 24:49)

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” (Roman 8:26).

In times of trouble I remind myself of Apostle Paul who in spite of all his sufferings, declared his confidence that God would allow him to endure anything. Despite all he went through, Paul was still filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 13:52) He said nothing is impossible with God and that if God is for us, who can be against us. Paul shows us that as Christians if we persevere, we have the ability to endure under hardship and persecution. (Acts 14:19, 21-22, 12:25,13:13,13:6, 13:10-11)

“I can endure all these things through the power of the one who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)

“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)

“What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else? Who will bring any charge against God’s elect?” (Romans 8:31-33)

The more we seek, praise, and keep our focus on God, we can have peace during the storms of life. Not the peace the world gives but the peace that we can only get from Jesus. During our troubles we must seek our Lord Jesus, spend time with Him, praying, and consuming His Word. Because when we are spiritually weak and malnourished, the storms can easily overwhelm us. Even during the storms, God will use that person or situation to continue to transform us into the image of Christ. Sometimes this process is painful. However we can choose to praise and glorify while in the storm.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33)

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18

“I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. (Psalm 34:1)

As Believers we do not react as the enemy expects us too, but as children of the Most High. We react by faith no matter what it looks like. Despite what is going on or how we are feeling, we praise Him anyway. God said He would never leave or forsake us which means He is still with us in the storms of life.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

It really is not what life throws at us but how we handle it. We can either let it knock us down and give up or we can get up and fight the battle that Jesus has already won. Remember during the difficult times that God said ALL things work out for those that love Him, not some things. God is faithful and His mercy endures forever! Be encouraged! Love and Blessings…

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28-29).

I got my license when I was a teenager and along with it came fear. All my life I have had anxiety when it comes to driving but I do it anyway. Every single time I get under the wheel I pray asking God to take over the wheel and that no harm or danger will come my way. You would think once I prayed the anxiety would leave but it has not. Some may say my faith is not strong enough, but I beg to differ. It is my faith that allows me to continue to drive in spite of my anxiety. After all these years of driving, I was in my first car accident a couple of weeks ago. My testimony is that doing this accident God did just that for which I always prayed. He took over the wheel, I did not panic and there was no fear. It was surreal! Those who know me kept saying they were so proud of me. All I could say was thank You Jesus for showing up and taking over the wheel! There is so much that could have went wrong. But God is faithful! I believe all those times that I asked God to take away my anxiety, He did not because He wanted me to recognize and act on His grace which is sufficient. The courage we receive from God isn’t due to the absence of fear, but the ability to move past it.

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

We all may know someone who we would describe as fearless. They. are. afraid. of. nothing! Some people trust the Lord so much that fear has no place in their life. And some people, Christian or not, it seems are just born that way. Unfortunately, some of us grow faint in the face of discomfort, diagnosis, separation from loved ones, mental challenges, and more which can prompt our fears, even if but a moment. But it only takes a moment for the devil to use the spirit of fear and attempt to set us back captive to what Jesus delivered us from. There are so many scriptures telling us that fear is of the enemy and that God did not give us the spirit of fear. These scriptures are there because God knows sometimes we need to be reminded that He is greater than any thing or person we may fear. We can have faith in God, God’s plan for us, and God’s plan for the world but still struggle with our human fears and the lies of the enemy. God tells us that He knitted us together in our mother’s womb and I know that not one stitch was fear. The proof is that when babies are born there is no fear, and as they grow they are fearless to the point where they could hurt themselves. Why is that? Because satan has not touched them yet. The spirit of fear does not come from God but is one of the devil’s greatest weapons. The good news is that the Lord is faithful and He will deliver us.

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” (Psalm 139:13)

“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4)

Life can send us trouble at any time and fear will creep in, but the reality is as believers, we can experience God’s kind of peace in the midst of fearful circumstances. We must not allow the spirit of fear to stop us. Nor let anyone convince us that we have no faith. Faith is what keeps you moving in spite of fear. The three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego may have experienced a moment of fear, I don’t know. The point is that they were unshakable in their trust and faith in God even when it came to them being thrown into a fiery furnace. (Daniel 3:16-18) King David who God called a man after His own heart had a fear-filled moment when he found himself in Philistine territory while fleeing a jealous Saul. When he was recognized, he was anxious about what might happen to him. In Samuel 21, verse 12 we see David was very much afraid of Achis King of Gath. But David wrote in Psalm 56:3-4 that when he was afraid, he put his trust in God. That is exactly what we should do.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” (Psalm 56:3)

King Jehoshaphat’s first reaction was fear when he and his small tribe of Judah were besieged on all fronts by three powerful armies quickly advancing toward them. But then what did he do? He set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah to ask help from the Lord. (2 Chronicles 20-34) The lesson here is to seek God at all times even when we are afraid. And then there is the story of Esther which is very encouraging to those who are facing fear. Esther, who I believe had to be afraid on her way to see the King. She made a decision to approach the King which could bring her to death. But she went anyway, saying “if I perish, I perish” (The Book of Esther) I love this story because it shows the hand of God is at work in the lives of His people. It also shows us that God will deliver His people!

I don’t know about you, but this gives me hope! I’m so glad that the Word of God gives us examples of men and women who faced fear but their faith was bigger. They trusted God more. This is what we should do as well whenever we are fearful. Seek the Lord and trust Him. Once the spirit of fear sets in, the devil will try to convince us to run away, or get angry, frustrated, and disappointed in God. God doesn’t condemn us when we are afraid. This is the time to seek the Lord, His perfect love will cast out all fear. If we are afraid, we stir up the Spirit that lives in us, reactivate it if need be, and keep moving about our Father’s business! We will not let fear stop us, that is the enemies plan. Remember that same God that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us.

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16)

“Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power.” (1 Corinthians 6:14)

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Joshua 1:9 KJV)

Every decision we make based on fear will not be in accordance with God’s will. Fear in any area is never okay, especially if it keeps us from fulfilling God’s mission for us. However, trusting Him strengthens us to overcome it and keep moving forward. When we’re afraid to do something we know we should do, that’s the time we must stop and seek the Lord, meditating on His Word and promises. If you are in a constant fight with fear, remember this promise; “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” (Isaiah 54:17) Love and Blessings…

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)

When we pray we are in fact having a conversation with God. Because of sin there was a barrier between God and His people, however this is no longer true and we can speak directly to Him because of what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. Jesus Christ is the connection and the bridge between God and us. He is our Mediator and our Advocate. Unlike our fellow human beings who are sometimes unavailable, there are no limits to when or where we can conversate with God. Jesus Chris is always available for us, anytime and anyplace. We don’t have to search for Him, His Holy Spirit resides in us. Meditate on the following scriptures which tells a story on how much God loves us.

“It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, He has turned away and will not listen anymore” (Isaiah 59:2)

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26)

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear My voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.” (Revelations 3:20)

“When you call out to me and come to me in prayer, I will hear your prayers. When you seek me in prayer and worship, you will find me available to you.” (Jeremiah 29:12-14)

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (Hebrews 4:16)

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, the Apostle Paul encourages Believers with these words: “pray without ceasing”. When Paul says pray without ceasing, he is emphasizing the importance of maintaining a continual attitude of prayer. It doesn’t mean we must be in constant verbal prayer, but rather that our hearts should remain open to God, seeking His guidance, comfort, and presence throughout our daily lives. In other words we can connect with God at all times without opening our mouths.

“But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:36)

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

“And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.” (Mark 1:35)

A conversation involves back and forth communication. It is listening as well as talking. When we talk to God the listening part is more important than the talking because He already knows our relationship with Him, our name, and our deepest thoughts. It is important that we be still and have ears to hear what God has to say.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jerimiah 1:5)

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.” (Jeremiah 29:11-12)

“God already knows our deepest thoughts. And he understands what the Spirit is saying, because the Spirit speaks for his people in the way that agrees with what God wants.” (Romans 8:27)

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)

In Jeremiah 33:33 God says, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” God is promising to answer when we call on Him. He promises us that He will reveal great and wonderful things to us. When we listen to God’s voice, we open ourselves up to His wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, courage, knowledge, comfort, and instructions.

“Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” (John 8:47)

“Oh, that My people would listen to Me.” (Psalm 81:13)

We must pay close attention to the instructions the Holy Spirit gives us. No matter what it looks like through our natural eyes, if God says do it, do it, If God says do not do it, do not do it. And do it exactly how and when He tells you, not how and when you feel it should happen! Delayed obedience is still disobedience!

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24)

“But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.” (1 Samuel 15:22)

If we move ahead of God, it will not last, God will not bless us with things that we are not ready to experience. (that is what the devil does to pull you in and it is temporary.) If we move behind God, we may miss the opportunity to serve or to be a blessing. God’s purpose will still be fulfilled, He does not need us, we need Him. If we do not move at all, because of fear or lack of faith, we are stuck, then the enemy does a happy dance because he knows we do not fully trust God because fear is not of God. Our faith must be bigger than our fear! The best thing we can do is move with God, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us.

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” (John 16:13)

If you feel at times you are not hearing from God, the Bible encourages us to wait on the Lord. (Psalm 27:14) This is the time to trust and hope, believing that even if God seems silent today, He will eventually make all things right. Be still! Sometimes God unfolds His purposes, promises, and plans to us in the quiet moments when we shut out the clatter and wait patiently. Sometimes God’s silence is an opportunity to deepen our faith and draw closer to Him even if we don’t understand.

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted on the earth.” (Psalm 46:10)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8”28)

The good news is if we are at a crossroad in life and don’t know what to do, we have an instruction book called the Bible. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16) If we study it and firmly rely upon God’s promises, wisdom, power, and His goodness, we can live the life He promised us, an abundant life. (2 Corinthians 9:8) An abundant life is one of love, joy, peace, and the fruits of the Spirit. It is not just material wealth but eternal blessings and a deep relationship with God. It has become popular to use the words “Your truth” or “my truth” in today’s society. In the world there are multiple definitions of truth. Studies have revealed that people’s belief in what is truth is influenced by what they perceive. The problem with that is that perception is subjective and can be affected by many factors. In other words, the worlds truth changes. We can’t trust what is true and what is not because the worlds truth is not constant and steadfast. The truth of the matter is there is only one truth on which we can rely. “Your truth” is definitely different from “The Truth” because “The Truth” is Jesus Christ.

Jesus answered, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Truth is a word that is used 151 times in the Bible. Jesus says, “He is the truth (John 14:6), Isaiah calls the Lord “the God of truth” (Isaiah 65:16), and the Apostle John rejoices to find Christians “walking in the truth, just as we were commanded by the Father” (2 John 16:1:4). Scripture tells us that true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23). As Believers, growing in Christ involves the desire for God’s truth rather than inventing our own. God’s truth does not change for He cannot lie.

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19)

Offending others when standing for truth can sometimes be expected. People interpret our words based on their perception, upbringing, and personal experiences. They may respond with anger and false accusations. Be reminded that Jesus was talked about and eventually crucified because others were offended so we are in good company. We can’t control how others receive our words, but we can control the manner in which we present them. Jesus never stooped to name-calling or attacking those who disagreed with Him. Neither should we. Our role is to follow His example and trust His Holy Spirit to change the hearts of those who take offense.

“And they were deeply offended and refused to believe in him. Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family.” (Matthew 13:57) NLT

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” (1 John 3”18)

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” (John 6:13)

Do not be afraid to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. There are many that are confused with the worlds truth. There is so much fear and destruction in this world and people need to hear the truth. Believers should not remain in their holy huddle and not spread God’s truth. There are people who don’t know Jesus Christ, people we interact with daily who are devastated and discouraged by the enemy and his world of lies. Believers should share with them that Jesus loves them, died for them and rose again so they would have eternal life. That Jesus will use them for His greater purpose. It is a simple but powerful message that Jesus Christ has called Believers to share. It could be the difference between eternal life and death. There is freedom in walking in God’s truth. Man can change depending on how he feels at a particular time, but God’s Word never changes. Love and blessings…

“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,” (Ephesians 6:17)

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32)

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” (3 John 1:4)
