What is your interpretation of trauma? Is it a breakup, assault, chaotic childhood, neglect, intimidation, betrayal, abuse, loss? The list can be extensive and intrusive. Many have experienced a traumatic event; some multiple times. According to World Mental Health Surveys about 70% of adults across various countries report at least 1 lifetime trauma. It’s common, yet devastating. Psalm 46:1; reminds, “GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”. Intense intervention is often required to facilitate relief and recuperation.
Recovery from trauma and developing resilience comprises the testimony. The
ability to manage our emotions and maintain an appreciable level of daily
functioning isn’t easy. There are trauma survivors who immerse in work,
education, hobbies, activist pursuits, exercise, interests, etc. These healthy
forms of compensation provide numbing to ease the intermittent pricking and poking affecting the mind and heart. Coping mechanisms vary. Some find reassurance in continuously repeating their plight like a parrot, while others prefer to pretend it never happened. Whether trauma is concealed or vividly exposed, the occurrence can be demoralizing if effective measures aren’t instituted. Resorting to retaliation, anger, or isolation isn’t productive. Individuals in relationships with trauma victims are subjected to aftermath. The slightest triggers can prompt acting out, or worse acting in. Realize the trauma person’s “chips aren’t just down”, but smashed”. Projection is a typical tactic for those
who aren’t yet able to relinquish traumatic hurt. Dodge the darts of the wounded.

Set boundaries to shield your sanity. Whether a memory, a present predicament, or GOD forbid trauma awaits the future; in JESUS’; strength we can transition from trauma to testimony, (Psalm 91:4). The primary purpose of the testimony is sharing the sentiment of the sufferer, or when
a perpetrator repents and reforms. Note: relapse shouldn’t condone condemnation, as falling down and getting up can be the course towards revitalization. (Proverbs 24:16). Our testimony isn’t intended to abate cries that we have forgotten, but screams
the consolation we have forgiven! It symbolizes adjustment, mending, and hope. Think how JESUS was traumatized beyond measure. Visualize being crucified; nailed, tortured and hanging in suspension. JESUS’ heart, body and mind were subjected to relentless anguish and torment. His spirituality was shaken as he cried out; “My GOD, my GOD why hast thou forsaken me, (Matthew 27:46)? This unwarranted horrific act is an illustration of the LORD’s love for humanity. Another
profound highlight is JESUS, saying, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do”, (Luke 23:34). Forgiveness is the vital component in recovering from trauma to testimony. If we can release the hurt, we possess the capacity to receive healing. A divine cleansing of the soul is indicated to eliminate earthly contaminants caused by trauma. Know many abusers were abused.Traumatized children often yield dysfu

nctional adults. Although it doesn’t excuse the offense, it should educate about
the underlying erosion resulting from destructive patterns and harboring negativity. Pardoning the persecutors is paramount. You may ask, how can I forgive someone who caused, x, y and z? Honestly, you probably can’t without the power of JESUS; trust Him. (Philippians 4:13)! Our testimony portrays what the LORD has done, is doing and will do during our life’s journey.Trauma to testimony can become purposeful living, as the past no longer overshadows
the future. JESUS righteously lived, heinously died, remarkably resurrected, and gloriously ascended into heaven. This is a teaching testimonial for those suffering due to sins of others. It’s expected to feel the strain of endurance while striving towards spiritual excellence (Acts 3:19). There are survivors, supporters, bystanders and
victimizers. CHRIST died for every single one of us. Nancy Hursey, this writer’s paternal grandmother would say, “I rather see a sermon than hear one”. A testimony doesn’t have to be verbalized; it can be demonstrated through our Christian walk. It’s
meant to inspire. Draw it, sing it, recite it, play it, write it, live it; the testimony
signifies overcoming. Know JESUS is the cure for all causes. Transformation
transcribes the testimony. Whether your story is private or public, it can be tailored to depict the “was”; that no longer is. Beloved, it’s clearly time to release, recover, and rebound. Trauma x JESUS=Testimony.
