SOME HARD TRUTHS:
TAMMING THE TONGUE (James 3:1-10)
“The tongue is the smallest part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. It can corrupt the whole body, set the course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. Animals can be tamed but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless quill, full of deadly poison. How can we praise our Lord and Father, and with the same tongue curse our brothers and sisters who have been made by God in his likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. This should not be.”
DON’T JUDGE ME (James 4:11-12)
“Brothers and sisters do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the Law and judges it. When you judge the Law, you are not keeping it but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one lawgiver and judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?”
TOMORROW IS NOT PROMISED (James 4:13-16)
“You say “Today or tomorrow we will go to the city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” You do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you should say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil.”
So there you have it my people. Some hard truths from Apostle James. He is described as one of the first disciples to follow Jesus. Please go to Food for the Soul and pray with me to our Father for help with these things which are not pleasing to Him. Much Love…..
Yes and Amen.
